Dr. Malcolm Smith is a nationally known training facilitator, consultant, author and educator whose ideas about reaching out to angry people have been adopted by schools, residential facilities and community programs. Each year, Dr. Smith reaches over 6,000 educators, parents social service and business professionals attending his trainings and keynote speeches.

In spite of giving his parents a really hard time, Malcolm has been caring about people most of his adult life. He has been a teacher at the famous Menninger Clinic, and has also taught students in the backwoods of rural Georgia on mountaintops in Colorado and in mental hospitals, homeless shelters, and residential programs across America. He has also used these avenues to provide vital training experiences for his company, which is currently providing education, training and consultation in over 30 states. Dr. Smith has responded to over 45 major school violence incidents. He also has written a popular weekly parenting column for an award winning newspaper.

Malcolm has a B.A. in Journalism and a B.A. in Special Education from Washburn University, a M.Ed. from Minnesota State University and PhD in Family Life and Human Services from Kansas State University. He is the former director of the Karl Menninger National Youth Care Training Center where he trained over 1,200 human service professionals each year. He is currently a professor and Family Education and Policy Specialist at the University of New Hampshire

He is the author of The Peaceful Intervention Program, of Meditations of the Art of Peaceful Intervention, and of a popular series of parenting guides: Realistic Expectations for Kansas Parents.
